Hello all, looking to get involved in vintage racing and have been looking at some AS and TA cars.

I am trying to figure out the rules for AS as I see 64-67 Mustangs were equipped with 289s, yet I have come across a few AS cars for sale advertised as having 302s...

My question is are 302s allowed in 64-67 AS Mustangs and carry a weight penalty that I am unaware of or are these cars illegal?

Thanks in advance!

Most organizations allow the 302 in place of the 289.

If they apply a weight penalty, 100# is considered appropriate. In actual fact, your car is probably over 2800# so that point is moot.

Here is the HSR Supplemental Regulation for Gen. 1 Mustangs (and Cougars)
