This clip gives witness to a young lad who, for ten years, had his eyes on, and coveted, the shown 603. But during those years his dream was thwarted by his parents who refused him permission (and Czech Crowns...$) until, UNTIL he came-of-age (17 yrs. old), & "kept his nose clean." Well, here's the happy day that he realizes that long held desire! Here he is shown, driving it, replete with mud-flaps, into the backyard of his folks house, for the first time...next to the winter's fire-wood pile which they were damn-well sure he had FIRST chopped & stacked. He has, that Sat. morning, retrieved it from the tyre shop...stopping at the local church (seen in the background), where his priest blessed them both. Thus the blessed facial glow!:
Would that he be so happy, on the day he marries. Amen.
(P.S.- I do wish that my first ride was blessed too. Maybe then, I wouldn't have rolled it on two different occasions.) Amen! ********************************************************

In the latter segment of this past year, at Nürburgring Nordschieife, an ungainly middle-aged Croatian "mystery man" popped by for to do battle with the circuit. This, of and by itself, would not have startled too many...save for the racer he had towed: a Tatra 607 !, which no one noted as such in the paddock, as it was heavily covered with tarps, on an OLD, rusty, farm-like trailer...from Croatia. Good Lord...& Good Lad!: When asked, by the track authorities, 'bout the lack of a roll-bar (the German's being ULTRA sensitive re. them), he stated that "This Dog is period correct...I don't have a welder to affix one, and I'm NOT going to drill into the frame to bolt on one!" After a few choice coments, in his native tongue, with appropriate gestures, he causually affixed a helmet to his noggin, smartly saluted the assembled, and sped towards the track's entrance slip...at which time, some like to imagine, he was heard to shout, "Tally Ho!"

[quote=zuzulo56] "In the latter segment of this past year, at Nürburgring Nordschieife, an ungainly middle-aged Croatian "mystery man" popped by for to do battle with the circuit..." **************************************************** 13 Year old, Jakub Svoboda of Masarykova St., Brno, Czech Republic mailed (!) me these photo's of his latest pride-&-joy...a Tatra T607-2 Monopost, Slot Car. Besides there BEING such a thing, what really startled me was one of those "Signature Nuance Keys", is the driver, (who's picture-taking run was 6 months in advance of the release of the miniature one)...specifically, his "Uniform, Helmet, & Sun Glass-Goggles!" Compare them to the "Stoic Bloke" above. My sense for Heuristic Hints is stimulated. I fancy we may have discovered the Why's & Wherefores" of the Mystery-man of Nordschieife & his entourage of photographers.: http://faro-src.com/eshop/faro-1-32/show-from-0.html#product_list
REMEMBER!: To make the print size more palatable (Readable), Depress the "CTRL" key and spin the mouse wheel...OR then tap the "+", "-" keys! Take Note: Your thoughts of securing one of the cars is, of itself, quite intriguing. BUT take note that you might not be able to actually race it...or at least not easily... unless you have a 240V, line of current: "Connect the power supply to electricity network of 240V/50Hz after connecting the power and control straight. The power supply was intended and constructed as a source of voltage for the used motors and cannot be replaced by others (such as adapters and chargers). "-- FARO, Inc.

During the final period of Communist Rule in Czechoslovakia, there existed a "Directorate of Faithfulness"...OR as the people called it: "The Bureau of Hanky Panky." This short clip shows a personage, from that Dept., visiting a rural housewife who suspects that her husband is playing about with another woman. They race, in a 603, to catch the lout playing touchy-feely with a co-worker girl...as his spouse thinks, "I'll take that "Hammer & Sickle" to your boys!" ("The Glorious Revolution", indeed!)
As I recall it, the shyest, homeliest...the frump girls were really aroused by this song/dance. They would hit the dance floor, ablaze...and act like wh--es.
But, but even then I couldn't get lucky.

OH, RING THOSE BELLS... AND FIRE THE CANNON! It's a fresh new year, and (sponsored by LYNX Shower Gel) the start of the T-Girl Selection Events!...one of the handful of things that sustains a body through the frigid winter months has begun! This first one held, in a somewhat chilled (yet "heated"!) environment, at Ustka, Poland...aside the Baltic Sea.:
A Giant Western "THANK YA PARTNER!" to Zygmunt Dolevitch, a Polish Pal of Ustka, who was MOST kind in forwarding these! Ustka ****************************************************

"TO 10,000...AND BEYOND!"
SHORTLY, a VRRF milestone will be reached...
On June 5th. of this past year, this "TATRA THREAD" (TT) was given birth, with scant thought that it would accrued the popularity which it has. Indeed it (and SHE!) has being viewed by inhabitants of every continent...including Antarctica. And it's to all of you viewers, (and the wonderful Tatra-Club.com...http://en.tatra-club.com/forum, AND Tatra Heritage: http://www.tatraheritage.com/) that we now offer a hearty & sincere "Thanks!" We, here at the Vintage Race Rules Forum, appreciate your interest and time spent in studying the History of the fine Tatra Motor Car...as well as present-day examples of same.
In a manner of Propriety and Tribute we shall, now, reprise the initial offering in this Adventure. As always, feel free to comment (after becoming a welcomed, fellow-member)...in English, OR your native tongue. We're most keen on hearing from your fine self's!: Never seen one of these rigs racing. I'd like to experience the reaction it would generate at Rd. America!:
It finished in 10th. place, amongst 23 competitors. BEHIND THE REAR SWING-AXLE (the old VW style), V-8, AIR COOLED ENGINE (154 cu. in./96 HP.)

"Shade-Tree" Race Engine Preparation:
After just having persuaded it out of a disused truck chassis, Local Brno (Czech Republic) lad, Václav Klaus III, reputedly a grand vintage "Folk-Race" driver, is shown race-preparing his new power plant, post-successful "lower end" overhaul. One can only hope that his canine helper (& Navigator)...did...help. We wish them, both, Hodne stestí! (hodni schtisty)...and God_Speed!
"Folk Racing":
Folkrace is racing for the people. You sign up at your local motorclub, buy a cheap scrap car and put a cage in it. Do some cheap tuning and then you are ready to race.

That is a pretty stout sounding V8. Those Chechs have a real sweet piece of machinery there.

Vc:Re: Vc:Mystery Car Hello zuzulo56,
thank You for the message. You are welcome, I like to help... Yes, the engine, as well as the whole car, was basicly made by Jawa. {"CAR" is shown before--zuzulo56} But after the world war was politically decied, that Jawa have to made only motorcycles, so that is why Minor was made by Aero then.
Otherway, I like to invitate You, and the fine members of the VRRF, to our website, which is now available also in English. I hope You find there interesting materials. During next months we prepair a lot of events, so stay on!
With wishing of sunny and air cooled spring to States AND the VRRF!

IT'S "PAY-BACK TIME!"
The town's bookie, Big Josef, has come to collect!...on a Football (Soccer) Wager. As I Hear him, the loser remarks, "Like a bad dream, a Black-angel of death, the Tatra T87 pulled away...and I swore that I would NEVER wager away the kid's college fund...again...on Football...those sons-of-she-dog players! (He seems to have left himself "an out"...TWO of them... the cheeky bas--rd!)
Oh, and notice the confidence-inspiring sounds coming from the car's "Binders"?

1934 Tatra (T77) Record Attempt:
Slovak lad, takes his newly purchased, 78 yr. old, car out on the "Dálnice D8" (D8 Motorway), a highway in the middle and northwestern Bohemian region of the Czech Republic...for to Open-Her-Up! Not withstanding the rotting and bald tyres, history does NOT record that he killed himself...on THIS occasion.
